The rule is, masks are to be worn. If the guy takes it off when they get airborne and refuses to even pretend to wear it, what are they supposed to do? Selective enforcement of rules destroys what ever credibility they had in the first place. It isn't that far removed from passengers self-upgrading.
THey report it. Dont escalate it.
No one is dying because they didnt wear a mask. Put it on the company to go after the passenger in question to make the passengers clutching their pearls feel better.
