Nobody should be lecturing an incompetent passenger, but it is your job as PIC to inform your crew of it’s roles. You’re not to escalate, that simple. All that’s required is a name and seat number for the message to operations.

Again, you are making a lot of assumptions. Every time I've seen a FA interact, it's just "sir, please put your mask on.". And every time someone has been kicked off, there has been no confrontation. And in fact, of the times passengers have been removed for behavior by police, the FAs effectively stopped interacting and stayed in the galley in order to not escalate. They are required to give them the final warning card and from there, it's out of their hands. I've literally never seen a FA "escalate" a situation that would have warranted a passenger taking their pants off or throwing anything.
