Here are the reasons why I came to PDT as a commuter:
1. I wouldn’t sit reserve for long, if at all. As a commuter, I needed a line fast, like 1-2 months fast. I got one. Sometimes I come in the night before but that’s been only 3-5 times over 4 years. This eliminated Envoy.
2. I would upgrade quickly. One word. COVID. Had that not happened, I would have.
3. Hub city domiciles. As a commuter, I needed this. Couldn’t rationalize PSA outstation bases.
4. Flow. I didn’t want to be at the regionals for longer than 7 years. PSA and Envoy can’t ensure that. Neither can Endeavor or Horizon. Despite 2020, my flow will be under that by a year. Roughly 2.5-3 years from now.

This is why I came to PDT. Do I regret my decision? Sometimes. But the crews I fly with are solid. Wish our rules were better. But I’ve been home for every day I wanted to be home for. My family is what drives my choices and we’ve been alright. Not great, but regional life sucks no matter where you go. This is a stepping stone to greener pastures.

Why not to come here. The future. It’s bleak as to what AAG will do with our aircraft. But, they are paid for and we are cheap. So our bottom line helps. Either way, it’s a crapshoot on any airline you go to.
