Nothing should be given up for new hire pay rates. Most of them are getting wide body seats on their first day.
They don't ever have to sit sideways, much less for 4 years.
They don't sit reserve, under the old rules, for a year, either.
They should take their seat and be happy about it. If they aren't let them leave.
You and everyone else repeating this litany of capitulation are dead wrong. We have to give up nothing, nada, not a single thing. Problem is from top to bottom this "we have to give something to get something" mentality permeates. The union leadership has it, the negotiating committee has it, and most of the crew force has it.
It is pathetic.
You know what? We've "given" plenty making this company a piles of money during this pandemic and I'm not "giving" anything else until that's reconciled and neither should you. You can keep all the atta boys and thank yous. The company can express their gratitude at the negotiating table with cash.
Our leadership is falling all over themselves to give things away and calling it gains. Mr "I'll wait to see what's in the TA" is ready to "consider" whatever hot garbage they produce. Meanwhile, Joe the pilot is addicted to draft dollars like a crack head. You can't win like this.
I couldn't careless about having an agreement by May. I want the best agreement don't care how long it takes.
if they make unserious offers is time to walk away from the table and walkover to the terminal and start doing informational picketing. Call channel 5. The cash flush public, addicted to mail order, and locked down for the last year will be sympathetic to the front line workers making sure boxes show up at their front door..
