No we weren’t. We were profitable as was the rest of the industry. Our margins and income (adjusted for our size) were nothing special. The legacies had better margins believe it or not. So even in good times with far lower costs we weren’t exactly printing money
Is it really a problem if our margins and income are nothing special because we’re plowing profits back into growing the airline? The legacies aren’t growing. They’re just trading customers and routes on the fringes. Granted, the performance is nothing like the early teens, but neither is the airline. And that kind of performance is usually an outlier for anyone.
