2020 / COVID-19 was a great distraction from the Boeing backlash. That said, does Southwest want its future tethered entirely to one aircraft design from an American aerospace company that has been declining? I know SWA used the MAX debacle to secure an even cheaper, thicker order book … but wow, a second airframe (A220? A320? E195 E2?) seem more necessary as ever as SWA sims to be a 1,000+ airframe airline.
Not sure I agree with the argument but the justification I read was even if we had another airframe, losing 50% of your fleet still has the same outcome. It’s too much to absorb and bankruptcy will be knocking at the door (without government intervention).
