The reps have to deal everyday with the garbage that Spirit is so great at throwing at us, along with continued empty promises for improving things. It gets old from a line pilots perspective, imagine it from theirs. This place is a revolving door, even for pilots now. Even a chief is bailing on that role. I never thought about leaving until recently, got an offer from one of the big boys with no recs and within weeks of applying. It’s crazy out there.
The base chief is going to the line because he is probably tired of having to do sick call follow ups and wouldn’t mine being a pilot again. A base chief pilot leaving a management role isn’t some earth shattering event; they make less than what they can on the line, don’t have to stay in that dungeon office any longer, no dealing with some knuckle head pilots who seem to not get how to play nice, etc. I’m surprised he stayed so long in that role, and hope his replacement is equally as enjoyable to deal with as he was.

DFW based pilots leaving Spirit for AA, have fun. I don’t think the grass is that much greener on that side of the terminal.
