It’s the idea that whatever issues we have here, don’t exist at AA. If I were a first or second year FO, sure, I would be looking as well. Guys just need to go into this with eyes open and not all that glitters is gold.
As someone said once “if you’re miserable at your current airline, you’ll likely be miserable at your next airline.”
I don’t think it’s as simple as “ they have problems too” type of deal. AA is a poorly run organization with a huge debt load. They’ll probably be the first to have their contracts rejiggered via bankruptcy. They’re also probably too big to fail. Spirit is not.
We’re nowhere near a death knell here, but a clear path to the precipice is pretty evident. Do I want to be here or at AA with 5000 under me when the SHTF? Personally, I’m more concerned with the doors staying open than thinking AA is just Spirit foibles writ large.
