2020 / COVID-19 was a great distraction from the Boeing backlash. That said, does Southwest want its future tethered entirely to one aircraft design from an American aerospace company that has been declining? I know SWA used the MAX debacle to secure an even cheaper, thicker order book … but wow, a second airframe (A220? A320? E195 E2?) seem more necessary as ever as SWA sims to be a 1,000+ airframe airline.
Why take chances with a "new" airframe when you have access to a design that has been winnowed down/perfected over the last 50+ years.....
