A lot of regionals are going under before their junior pilots flow dates. They’ve lost so many CAs that they are already cutting back flights. Look at the bonuses being offered for DECs. For an FO to get upgrade eligible they need a CA in the seat next to them for 1000 hours. Every CA or senior FO they lose as an OTS hire breaks their “just in time” supply chain for butts in the left seat. Moreover, their competitors know that and are purposely recruiting those folks. It’s a collapsing system, and no amount of shoveling zero 121 time people in the bottom will fix it. Only a recession severe enough to stop legacy hiring might - and that’s a possibility.
