That is good to know. It doesn't change his point though that pay scales are very misleading. Things like minimum daily guarantee, vacations, deadhead pay, standup pay formulas, performance bonuses, and especially the 401k match are about 35% of yearly total pay, maybe more. Oh, and some regionals give lots of pay or incentives regarding holidays, even if you don't fly on the holiday. A one time bonus of 40k paid over 4 years and 50% match up to 3% 401k sounds good but not compared to an 11000 per year bonus with 100% 401k match on 10% of salary.
A pilot comparing jobs needs to learn all these things before he commits. Also, if you are paid a bonus, what happens if you leave a few months later or a couple of years? Is the bonus contract in writing? Republic's old training contract required you to pay them 24k if you left in the first 2 years or if the company went out of business.
