Don't try to cook bacon on that stove. All that fan above the stove does is blow the smoke right back into your face. I set the fire alarm off my first Saturday there and they had to evacuate the entire building around 8am. The chief fireman personally visited me in my room and said, "First time cooking?" I'm so glad I read your post! I remember reading it and laughing because it sounded like something that would happen to me. Fast forward almost two months and we just got out of ground school. A bacon cheese burger sounded super tasty. Since I picked the required stuff up from the rainbow market a couple of days ago I began cooking. I switched the fan on high and didn't think anything of it. about five minutes went by and I thought to myself, "damn, it's kinda smokey in here." I remembered this post and ran to open the window, what a worthless fan! The only thing that saved me from the smoke detector going off and aparently the fire department responding was your post clicking in my mind as I was breathing bacon smoke! Thanks again!
