Government intervention in the oil industry should be enough proof for anyone that having a "Climate Czar" pushing "green energy" is a really, really bad idea.
Government intervention results in lower standards and fewer choices than what industry can deliver and what consumers want. Look at the telecom industry after the government sanctioned monopoly was disbanded. I think an electrified future is a beautiful thing, choosing the best path there will make a world of difference.
I love the concept of local energy generation. Let's do so in a manner that doesn't empower a new group of pariahs to build the generation and storage systems required.
Battery manufacturers are feverishly developing cobalt free or limited cobalt batteries. As an example, Tesla 3s sold in China were cobalt free. There is some discussion on whether cobalt can be removed permanently but there is certainly the awareness that removing cobalt is a good thing for all.
