Yes, a new contract might entice more to stay past 60. Another rumor I heard was that guys were delaying their retirements in hopes of getting a big chunk of equity from the merger. So far, the data doesn't really support that rumor.
I think you need to check your facts. The retirement numbers I've heard are much lower than yours. In fact, more than half are electing to stay.
