Management is however willing to pay more for pilots on larger aircraft. When I attended in Command the then CEO stated he would not mind paying a 777 CA 500 an hour because the airframe generated the revenue to support. He then qualified that by saying he can’t do that because we would then demand 400 an hour for a 737 CA and that was not supportable.
…a healthy reminder that our quality of life is often driven by the emotional machinations and perhaps even the sleeping habits of our CEO. “Revenue generation” is only tied to the airframe one operates if you want to pretend there’s such an easy association. But when you’re the boss, you get you pretend anything you want to unless or until the board decides otherwise.
