Your overall point is somewhat valid, but I think you’re being a bit dramatic. I’ve only seen the drive take over an hour one time. In my experience, room keys are typically ready within 10-15 minutes. You’re also a JFK guy; with any of the other bases, crew rest westbound is normal 2.5-3 hours. Not a full night’s sleep, but pretty decent. Also, their new (to me at least) crew line for outbound security is much, much faster. So when the FAs bring 36 yogurts and 18 bottles of wine each that get scanned individually, it’s not so horrible. Haha
Unless someone reading this is senior to me, in which case double all the times sailingfun listed.

And eastbound is less. The reality is you are f-ing up your circadian rhythm and cheating yourself out of 2 full nights of sleep. That’s the choice you are making. The above bolded attitude shows the screwed up thought process to justify the issue. I’ve never heard a domestic pilots say I’ll be good all night if I can get two three hour naps.
Having said that, seems like many east bound flights land around 1-3am body clock time. That’s not too much later than I normally go to bed, plus I got a 2 hour nap. YMMV.

I probably did 50 CDG trips. I never saw a one hour drive to the Marriot. The Hilton was 20 minutes shorter but not used much on trips I did. It takes 20 minutes just to get off the airport. I would say average drive time from boarding bus to the Marriot was 90 minutes. I saw over 3 hours many times when their was a strike and they like to strike in Paris! That is why the pickup times were so early. Even with no need to clear customs outbound we still had flights going late with a 3:15 prior pickup.

Are the positives that positive for you? I’ve never flown international, I’ve been a RJ and domestic guy my whole career. I was looking at 330s in the future but could hold 717A now. Red eyes are rough but survivable for me, are they a decent correlation to international?

And I avoided transcon all nighters like the plague on the 76. I NEVER flew them if at all possible.

If I were hired by DL in the last 3 years, I'd take the fast NB A, bank some $$, then bid WB B when seniority allows. From what I gather as an outsider, the only thing you bid for domestically is sign in date/time. You might as well get paid as an A. After trying each for a couple years you can make your career decision. It's a long way from hire to retire, enjoy the scenery along the way.
