Which begs the question, where is the LOA to implement these improvements that were advertised as being very pilot-friendly? Why are we discussing a possible scope LOA when there is so much other low hanging fruit that’s already made it through negotiations? Perhaps the company canned those peaches and put them on the back shelf.

I honestly can’t think of anything the company has actually brought to the pilots to improve…anything.

[correction: icrew visual view of open time was an improvement].

Do we have more dual aisle WB's? Yes.

But when it comes to WB's paying the top pay rate, AA has 113....Delta has 17

That’s a common refrain, and I agree.

But again, usually when this comes up (as it did this time), it’s regarding “WB flying opportunities”.

We have more.

Now let’s fix the pay part.

And of course their terrible reserve system.

I’m sure their reserve system has an effect, but anyone bidding 777 or 787 as an Fo will also be on reserve. It not as if the 737 fo seat goes senior at ual.

I will say that the career progression and earnings outlook looks better for a new hire going to UAL or AAL, especially considering that they will fly more years on larger equipment. UA has people upgrading right off probation (a requirement) and would have street captains (like us) otherwise. Our international ops peaked years ago and will continue to shrink. The best we can do now is be the best paid narrowbody pilots in the industry.
Try some decaf. I wasn't saying anything of the "why don't you leave" sort, Chief. We'll have to agree to disagree on the widebody growth here at DAL.

Well.... year after year... contract after contract.. we continue to tie our highest pay to a decision that is completely out of our hands. Hint: Management chooses which airframes to operate and management buys those airframes.

Deal with it, or change it, but stop whining about it.

Management is however willing to pay more for pilots on larger aircraft. When I attended in Command the then CEO stated he would not mind paying a 777 CA 500 an hour because the airframe generated the revenue to support. He then qualified that by saying he can’t do that because we would then demand 400 an hour for a 737 CA and that was not supportable.

…a healthy reminder that our quality of life is often driven by the emotional machinations and perhaps even the sleeping habits of our CEO. “Revenue generation” is only tied to the airframe one operates if you want to pretend there’s such an easy association. But when you’re the boss, you get you pretend anything you want to unless or until the board decides otherwise.

The company negotiators can't have it both ways. If they won't let us cherry pick other work groups that we don't represent, then any claim the company makes of "we'll have to give this to other groups" [that we don't represent] should be tossed aside.

The mediation is ironically making things harder to move quicker.
There's no irony in something operating exactly as it was designed to.
