Live by the PWA, die by the PWA. I’d gladly take our process for pay and work rule improvement over the non-cons process. Good on them for getting 4%, but I don’t think that’s a slap to our faces. We are still in the process and will get far more than that.

Why should I?

I don’t disagree with you there. I was not in favor of a mega giant contract improvement that we supposedly asked for.

Question to all who see this as a negative to the Pilots:

Would we be in stronger section 6 position vis-a-vis the RLA and the NMB with the 2 non-con pay raises or without? No need to answer, as I am being rhetorical of course. One can even make an argument that this makes full retro much easier.

I wish they would have gotten 15%

All time pax demand and pay raises being issued maybe DALPA can get something done.

Scoop.

Exactly this. Much easier for us to just claim "me too" if they get bigger raises.

Well, it's good that they got one, in the sense that we weren't going to get anything until they got something first. But getting two raises while we get no raises.. (they got one in fall 2019 if I recall)

How many more raises should we let the non-cons get before we deserve any raise?

One other equalizer on our contract vs. United and AA is that Delta operates w/ 2 Captains on 4 man crews…. United does not and I think AA (help on this one) does not either. They operate w/ 1 Captain and 3 FO’s. So the 4 man crews essentially doubles the high paying potential of the Delta fleet.

Still not our problem. But we do need to pay LCPs a LOT more money.
Yep. Put it in the contract. If the backlog is 8 months for OE then not our problem. Raise the pay in section 6.

”Equalizer” might be a stretch. Likely a small good deal we have going on here. But it’s a pretty small percentage of flying we do that affects a very small number of pilots. That single position is 25% of a crew on a very small number of ultra long haul city pairs, and it’s happening for those few affected who are all in their out years. All else being equal, it’s likely better to have more WB opportunity early in a career to let those earnings compound. I’m not advocating a change, but it’s not an equalizer in my mind.

Not going to help pay the bills, save for college, or offset the ridiculous prices at the grocery store. I think we should be more concerned with the 200+ million they just threw at Endeavor.

I've worked a job at close to min wage and got a 6% raise once. Didn't even notice it. To get wrapped up on this is silly. 4% is nothing. Probably still less than Ed's bonus in total.
I’m going to look at it in a glass half full way.
This is an optics raise for the other groups. If we had gotten a big raise and the non union groups had nothing, there would be a union drive for those employees. This is a smart move my the company to provide a positive narrative to the other groups when we eventually get ours.
