China will look at this economically and politically. As soon as they think they can get away with it, they will. As many people as they have in that country, they will gladly trade people for territory. It would cost the system less.
Isn’t the reason the UN does not recognize Taiwan is because mainline China is one of a handful of countries (Russia and USA) that have a single vote veto to over rule any motion put forth? They refuse, so Taiwan is not recognized, no matter how many other countries vote yes.
