That is a very good point. For the truly "super junior" Captains we've seen lately, that's almost always the way to go especially for that benefit. But most pretty senior FO's can pump their earnings pretty hard during some sliding 12 in 36. 150-170 hours a month has gone to some without stellar seniority just because they were willing to do more work on iCrew than they did turning wheels.
As an aside I'd like to see a more balanced out disability benefit for all than what we have but the lure of the "good deal" however rare it is will likely continue to win out.
