Lot of stuff in there to digest, heck I still have never heard anyone REALLY explain our reroute pay system adequately.
I have a good understanding of the PWA and the SRH, but when it comes to reroutes it’s an absolute clown show. There are things spelled out black and white in the PWA that isn’t “how it actually works.” DALPA at one point or another has given some free passes to the company and now that’s the way things are interpreted even if it’s not spelled out anywhere.
Then there are negotiator’s notepads that are used for some pretty serious interpretations.
And when all that fails, the company just goes and does their own thing, DALPA grieves and then an arbitrator makes a ruling that usually sides with the company/has no basis in the PWA and then the ruling is never added in text to the PWA, so unless you keep a copy of the ruling with you until you need it, it’s just a big ass secret.
So you’re both right. It’s important to know how our PWA, PCS, PBS, AE bidding, etc. work. Unfortunately there are many nuances that aren’t readily available in a published form and they can bite someone in the ass.
