I was literally employed at my regional for an extra year because someone else deferred a class date and I went to his slot on short notice.
After the first round of furloughs I was 10 numbers from the bottom of the list for an entire year instead of being unemployed had I taken The later class.
I again took a short notice class date at JB and as a consequence got into my desired base and seat a full year earlier, as the plug, before the next guy came in.
Go ahead and put off that class date for 2k though.

I’ll take your 1 off and raise you 39 - hundreds more against. Thinking that taking the first class is the end all, be all and will protect you from all things this industry will crap on you over, is very myopic. Just as many people who have been saved by jumping ASAP have been hurt, if not more, by jumping ASAP. No one knows until they’re sitting in the old folks home waiting on their tapioca pudding. Anyone that says otherwise is a snake oil salesman.
