From ALPA's perspective(follow the $$$), if it paid out as a signing bonus ALPA gets their cut..... yes, I know it sounds cynical, and I'm not castigating ALPA by any means, but after safety, $$$ comes into play somewhere in the ALPA calculus.

Hopefully, I'm wrong
I’m trying to put myself in the shoes of a member of the MEC or the negotiating committee. In no way whatsoever am I concerned about increasing the take for ALPA. It’s not like the budget is hurting and clearly I wouldn’t get any personal cut myself.

Call my naïve, but I think you’re wrong. I hope you’re wrong.
