I certainly value quality of life in terms of commuteability, days off and so on. But is that really worse than the regional I’m at now?
It also kinda seems like debates over scope may be a mute point if they are having trouble finding pilots to cover their existing flying anyway?
What else should I know? I think I have a good chance of getting on if I want, but would I be setting myself up for hassle and misery, or can it still be an ok airline to fly for?
Your question has been discussed in great detail already. Do a forum search. Work rules and QOL at Alaska are worse than many regionals, allegedly. The pay and 401k are better but still lack compared to the big three and several LCCs. This is a great place to get a type or two and bail for greener pastures. Apparently, it's uber easy to get hired here at the Eskimo these days. Good luck. Oh wait, you don't need luck-just a heartbeat and an ATP.
