If we were to absorb training pay into first year pay our actual rate is more like 46 dollars an hour. It's an embarrassment. Management HOPES people leave. Honestly.
It costs the company a lot to have a constant churn. They're having to cut the schedule due to staffing, and we can't upgrade enough people to fly the new planes coming online. They are also buying more training devices and sims. For now, they are able to stay afloat by hiring over attrition, but that isn't sustainable at all.
