Ok, but that was, what, in the 90s-mid 2000s? When you account for the inflation, we are remarkably similar in terms of real dollars. Not to mention some us new guys (include me) are likely to either be furloughed or hurt bad in the recession. Airlines are now showing a reduction in bookings.
I'm not saying 1st year pay is poverty, but having to tip a couple of dollars each and every van ride will add up each month.
Nope your first year pay is not remarkably similar today as compared to mine in 1997. Not even close, not to mention we had to pay for our own housing during initial training, all reserve was short call, just to name a couple of other things that have been dramatically improved.
I always tipped and you can too, don’t be “that” guy.
