Min day is great but don’t be ****ed when it optimizes you to a 5am show day 1 and a 23:59 duty off on day 3 for 15 hours for 3 days pay, vs close to 20 with duty rigs.

Exactly. The other poster and a lot at spirit have this weird fantasy that the company just took a previous 15 hour trip, adjusted it to be 23:59 and that's it.

They feed flights into the optimizer (the one we use is kind of garbage, if it's not clear) and a bunch of rules and different weights on things. Like for example, avoid aircraft swaps in ATL for a value of XYZ. Etc etc.

The optimizer also knows crew costs (contract) so it knows rigs, soft time, etc.
