You have a duty to your wife and children to stay home and earn a living and that is why you can not start out at 40 as a pilot. Your opportunities have passed you by. Best to forget about it and get on with raising your family. You have no business even considering this path. I am sorry to be so blunt but I believe that once you become a father you have responsibilities that go far beyond your own wants.

Everyone's circumstances are different. Again, as I said on another thread, there are pilot positions out there that would allow me to be home every night and on the wknds. They are out there.
You know, if the flying thing fizzles, no big deal. There are other ways to generate income and support my family.
And don't apologize for being blunt. "Iron sharpens iron".
