O contraire maunfraire. ...(and no, I'm not a Frenchman, but you get the message).

Moses started over at 40. He seemed to have turned out just fine. Why can't I?

Well.....He gave up a prime career with the Pharaoh, walked a long way, and never did make it to the Promised Land....

A hundred years ago a guy with a midlife crisis would run away and join the circus. I find myself with Skyhigh on this one. Get a few tickets (Instrument, multi, etc.) and buy or rent a plane and have a good time. Forget this foolishness about flying for a living.

Moses was given the duty by God and lived to be 100 or so. It says in the Bible that "a man who does not take care of his family is worse than one without faith". You have a duty to your wife and children to stay home and earn a living and that is why you can not start out at 40 as a pilot. Your opportunities have passed you by. Best to forget about it and get on with raising your family. You have no business even considering this path. I am sorry to be so blunt but I believe that once you become a father you have responsibilities that go far beyond your own wants.

Everyone's circumstances are different. Again, as I said on another thread, there are pilot positions out there that would allow me to be home every night and on the wknds. They are out there.

You know, if the flying thing fizzles, no big deal. There are other ways to generate income and support my family.

And don't apologize for being blunt. "Iron sharpens iron".

I wish you all the best but the odds are long on finding a flying job that lets you stay at home. That is the thing about planes, they go places away from home.

Good Luck,
