If they can't get it done the first time they have two more chances, and typically with a different Examiner. I heard the SAAB program is the one that has been getting people. Just about an entire SAAB class washed out when I was there.
True, Eagle training is tough, but when you see things going in a way that my buddy did, its' better to get out. The good part, as he told me was that the airline that interviewed him saw right through Eagles' crap, and picked him up. There only concern was that he not bring any negativity with him from Eagle.
As far as guys busting after one check ride then being sent home, I have seen it and it does happen. Why? I don't know. One Alaskan bush pilot guy, super nice, was sent home after 2 days in the sim. Why? Allegedly the instructor did not "like" him. But then I heard some suppository was going back and telling on him because he questioned a few things he didn't care for.
