You truly think UA management sent that letter because they sat around and decided they WANTED to give the pilots more?
I know you are frustrated that the last two contract cycles at NK have not resulted in better 1st year pay. I am as well. But it's not just the 1st year guys that are behind, the entire pay scale is behind. The main problem is NK management. To force NK management to give a higher 1st year pay, they would demand the rest of the scale (or some other rule/benefit) take a hit, because it's NK management, and they want the totality of the agreement to be lower than your peers. So unless you get new management (and more than likely a new model), you literally will have to give up something for the other +84% of the group.

That calculation changes with new management, as I said.
