Quarterly base trade language works fairly well. You lose your vac however it doesn’t just disappear. It drops into vac opentime around the time of the award posting. This creates the ability to set alerts for desirable vac periods throughout the year. Generally speaking you can get a desirable period at some point as pilots trade around the system. It’s rare I finish a year with the same vacation periods I was awarded.
