Just ONE full charge of an average midsize electric vehicle uses approximately the same energy that a newer efficient refrigerator uses in 4 months. Not to mention all the insane amounts of materials it takes to make just one electric car battery that usually only last 8-10 years.
Just think how much more coal or natural gas they’ll have to burn if California wants to go from 3% to 100% electric vehicles. That or they’re going to have to cover the entire state in windmills and solar panels. If you drive 1,000 miles in a month, that’s 4 full charges… you basically have another 4 refrigerators in addition to the one you already have for the next 4 months. Going green!
You're absolutely right. They definitely put the cart before the horse on that one. I'm not arguing that it's the right decision, just the fact that change is coming and we'll all be forced to adapt whether we like it or not. Shutting down their last nuclear power plant isn't such a smart idea right now either, but California politics often leaves you scratching your head.
