You mean, like pretty much every other thread eventually?
LOL
But seriously, this thread started by wondering aloud at the threats to this segment of aviation from a recession. Someone….😉….put forth the thought that environmental extremists and flight shaming were a greater threat. Given that the greenie (former) UK Prime Minister left office yesterday on a private jet and was shamed for it only bolsters the case. Yes, he’s a hypocrite but what is he supposed to do, take British Airways?

Change is coming whether you like it or not. For example, California just voted to ban the sale of internal combustion engines beginning 2035. The aviation industry is evolving too, and its smart business. Avoiding carbon offset tax and pushing a "green" initiative to customers is good for profit.
Just think how much more coal or natural gas they’ll have to burn if California wants to go from 3% to 100% electric vehicles. That or they’re going to have to cover the entire state in windmills and solar panels. If you drive 1,000 miles in a month, that’s 4 full charges… you basically have another 4 refrigerators in addition to the one you already have for the next 4 months. Going green!

And now California is asking residents to reduce charging of their electric vehicles even though they make up approximately only 3% of the total registered vehicles in the state. Just ONE full charge of an average midsize electric vehicle uses approximately the same energy that a newer efficient refrigerator uses in 4 months. Not to mention all the insane amounts of materials it takes to make just one electric car battery that usually only last 8-10 years.

You're absolutely right. They definitely put the cart before the horse on that one. I'm not arguing that it's the right decision, just the fact that change is coming and we'll all be forced to adapt whether we like it or not. Shutting down their last nuclear power plant isn't such a smart idea right now either, but California politics often leaves you scratching your head.
