Mechanical checklists blows chunks. It's antiquated and distracts the pilots. Once the takeoff config button is installed in all the 737s it won't be needed anymore. Hopefully they ****can it.
Having used the mechanical checklist for more than a few hours, on both the -80, and the 73, I'm a huge fan. Although I preferred the way we used to be able to use it, not having to do everything in order.
Rumor is the takeoff config button is on indefinite hold now. Apparently the FAA wont allow MEL relief for the system.
