Yes, New York City is pretty cool to visit, but I couldn't see myself living there. I was based in JFK for 4 weeks, and that was enough for me.

I am also from the left side of the country, and the commute to JFK or CVG sucks. I don't know your background, but look at the regionals like college. Suck it up, move to base and go fly for the regionals for a few years, at the end you graduate with a degree (SIC or PIC Type rating) and move on. That's the best advice I can give you. We are, and most likely will continue to loose more and more 50 seaters and continue to get reduced flying out of JFK. There is plenty of flying to go around out of CVG, and you WILL fly more in CVG than JFK! Plus, you can come over to the 70/90 (CVG base only), which is where the growth will be. And believe it or not, but today, you will more than likely hold a line faster in CVG than JFK. Ask some of the JFK based guys how much they have moved in the last 3 months.
