The entire issue of the 89k vs 86k is it’s ability to be able to do a midcon in the dead of winter west bound without limitations. I routinely had to boot pax or bags doing them in an 86k jet vs what that extra 3k can give. The other factor is intro Alaska where there was a lot of bags/cargo that now won’t be limited. It’s not ok at any airline but the significance of it at Alaska is more pronounced than it is at Delta.
Probably means more weight restricted flights and no jumpseaters in the future when more planes are ordered
