The charter side is great for commuters. E190 flying, 8 on 7 off then 7 on 8 off.
Then there’s the 195 days trips, out of MSY CHS ORF PVU. Senior guys (top 2 in base) probably get around 18-20 days off. The rest around 15-17 and the bottom reservist’s get 12. Not commuter friendly because the 195 does not fly sat-tue-wed. So you have a bunch of single days off that you can’t go home on. It’s great if you don’t commute.
And then there’s the A220 flying which currently is horrendous. Single days off , some guys not able to go home for months. They did apparently fix the schedules this month by combining bids from multiple bases in order to award consecutive days off . That’s yet to be seen.
The QOL is slowly improving and the pay is a lot better now. So things are trending in the right direction.
Got it, thank you so much! That’s super helpful.
If I get hired, am I able to choose to not do charter? I want to live in base and do shorter trips - like, nothing longer than 4 days. If I am forced to do charter, I’d rather go somewhere else
