also there was a small but very vocal group that was trying to torpedo the LOAs. I never heard anything close to a compelling reason not to vote for 20-04 but I remember daily FB posts by a particular CA about how we can’t possibly vote for this and how awful it is. I don’t think it helps that this person is one of the main FB posters now asking for unity and we need to be resolved on retro.
to be clear, we absolutely need to support retro for everyone, including retirees. I think most of us owe it especially VEOPers because I think the only reason DL didn’t furlough was because of all the early outs.
Delta didn’t furlough because they couldn’t. The VEOP was responsible for an instantaneous 2 1/2 year bump in seniority though. The LOA opposition was for the wrong reasons. I thought we could have gotten more and the bluff of a furlough was obvious when the target date kept slipping and the numbers kept getting smaller.. Even if there was a furlough, looking at the staffing debacle it would have been very short lived. Delta would have put all of those new hires on other carriers lists effectively shooting themselves in the foot.
