I agree with you. Some folks just don’t want to hear the realistic POVs, so they’d rather sling mud. I’d say most pilots fall in a category of being realistic, but what you encounter online generally are the ends of the bell curve. With that said, we have to see how the strike vote goes but I think our union needs to temper our expectations. Other things to consider are the risk/reward for continuing to drag things out vs truly finding the middle ground. I’m bearish on the macro economic picture for the near term and I believe whatever leverage we had recently is going to diminish rapidly.
Delta published their guidance, they are planning on making a lot of money. You should run for LEC and get us a quick deal, so how that goes over. Or you guys should run a campaign to oust ALPA and start your own Union and run on the position of being a realist. Tell pilots that they will never improve QOL, never keep up with inflation and never get paid more for training and vacation. Those positions would make great campaign posters. I'm sure you'd get lots of support. Start a gofund me with your positions and I'll donate 10 cents to your campaign. That should get you off the ground and running.
