You volunteer for VDA by putting yourself on for the day (or several days) in Flica and you can see the list of guys in seat and base/city who also put themselves on. If you are needed, CS will start calling from the top seniority guy based on days available. If the senior guy doesn’t answer, they keep going down the list. You are usually their last resort for whatever they want you to do, so if you answer, you are required to take what they give you, whatever it is. What they assign, pays double time.
