Imagine agreeing to buy something for $20 then you go pick it up and they say that it’s now $30. Kinda of the same concept.
It’s the same reason F9 got a pay raise after the merger fell through. They couldn’t increase any labor costs because they were in talks with us. That came right out of HRs mouth to me.
Like I said, it’ll be interesting how far they’ll go. I’m sure JB is aware of the situation and knows the labor cost will go up. We’ll see how this plays out.
F9 raised 1st year pay because it’s allowed under their CBA. It was done to help attract pilots and reduce attrition. The timing of it being right after the deal fell through with Spirit possibly played a part, but only because it was then the next most important thing on their plate. F9 has raised 1st year pay a couple times now outside of their normal annual increase. One of those raises was after the merger talks began, the other after they ended.
