Free money? Contractually required pay moved up for strategic reasons. They aren’t doing it for free. It’s for PR to counter the picket, it’s for taking away the no raise since____ talking point, it’s for bundling in with their eventual offer in hopes people forget what it’s actually for, but it certainly isn’t free money. It’s a cost that they are accepting because they believe there will be a return that justifies the cost.

Whether there will be a return to justify the cost to management will be determined by us. I think we’re smart enough to make judgments as to whatever games they maybe playing. Thus I don’t care what their motives are. This is big business, I expect that both sides play games for PR, that comes with negotiations.
TA 2 if/when completed will be judged on its merits and its merits alone. In the mean time, I’ll take 5% 6 months early and put it to work making more for my family.
