Hang out with your crew on overnights. You will gain much more respect and trust from your captain/FA while drinking a few beers and shooting the bull. They could care less if you memorized center frequencies or how many rivets were on the engine cowlings, if you hole up in your hotel room you are not going to have fun here.
A tip...if the FO buys the first round, he won't buy another round on the whole trip. Works 100% of the time 95% of the time
