Simple math. 42 MD’s to be disposed vs 27 airplanes on order, those are real numbers. Some may say only the Pratts will be parked, but I am not so sure based on how what I have heard. I will not put it past UPS to park an entire fleet in a short period of time like they have done in the past. I rather prepare/expect for the worst and be surprised by positive news rather than get hopes up. UPS is very unpredictable and secretive.
I don’t see UPS paying to park jets that could be making money, either in our network or flying AMC contracts. I also don’t see UPS selling a freight airline starter kit fleet to a potential competitor. While I’m skeptical that the company will spend big bucks to keep them all flying, I’m also skeptical they will dump paid for airframes with a track record of making money.
