Been occasions of FOs not having their workbooks done during IOE because of class dates. One guy was actually brave enough to pull his new legacy onboarding paperwork out in cruise during IOE. Captain check airman called when on the ground, pilot was removed.
So yes, the policy is IF the check airman gets wind that an FO has a class date at a legacy, their IOE will be suspended, as they are trying to get FOs on the line who will actually fly the line.
That’s honestly complete BS. These check airmen should be high fiving these guys. Now if someone is going to sandbag bc of a legacy class date that’s another story. If the new hire is giving 100% to their training a class date at another company shouldn’t be anyones concern other than a high five.
After asking around there is not such policy. Not saying it didn’t happen but there is no policy even implied.
