Its a matter of practicality given the advanced rail infrastructure in Europe. You have nothing to worry about, if you’re gainfully employed with a US carrier, for the foreseeable. With the exception of the Northeast Corridor (DC - NYC - BOSTON), the US is 100 years behind the rest of the world as it relates to accessible public conveyance.
