A recession in 2023 is hardly a rumor. It's more probably more accurate to describe it as a widely held expectation (
link).
What remains to be seen is how long, how deep, and what the eventual recovery looks like. Historically, regional airlines have tended to do better in recessions but whether this holds true again in 2023 is anyone's guess.
