If he wants to stay then keep expectations low. Staying in JFK or BOS bass you will have him on weekends sooner than later with a decent line. Any bass outside of those two is a nightmare.
After the merger is complete, this won't be true anymore (FLL and MCO being crazy senior). That said, the completed merger is at least 3-4 years out.
He can always attempt a base trade each month. Stranger things have happened. Keep in mind that each time an E190 base closes, there will be a displacement bid which will shuffle the deck again, making the base trade go away.
