Hello,
Pilot wife here hijacking my husband's account to ask you all a question.
We live in Naples, FL and my husband joined JetBlue in October and is commuting to/based in JFK on the 320. Our end goal is to be based out of FLL so his drive will only be 1.5 hours.
How long realistically until he can transfer to the FLL base? And while I'm here, how long of these reserve rosters?
Thanks!

The only issue is that I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but JetBlue has cut a bunch of routes from FLL as they continue to focus on others bases. That’s why I said I’d be surprised if it happens in less than 2 years.

Were those the odd-ball Covid routes that we ran for a while that were never meant to stick around?

They only cut the routes for resources. The NEA needed more planes. Also any cuts needed for other plans will come from Florida based since the other bases are very slot restricted.

Whatever the reason wether COVID routes or NEA supplemental planes the point is FLL has suffered. This airline will send you 5 emails about opening a route but you have to dig deep to see what they’ve cut. There’s been routes cut completely on major markets from FLL. My point stands to tell a new person they can look forward to getting FLL sooner than later is a disservice when this airline continue to show their interest is in the Northeast.

They have said multiple times though that FLL will continue to grow once the NEA obligations are filled. If Airbus wasn’t so far behind deliveries I believe we would have had a fll 220 base on last years bid. The rumor is its opening on the 2024 bid.
The other big rumor swirling right now is additional bases opening after the TA vote. Some many changes are about to happen at JB in the next two years. Such is life in the airlines though.
